Are you dressed for dance class?

 

It is very important to be dressed properly for dance class. Not only is it important to be able to move comfortably, but it’s also respectful towards your teacher and the other students in class. Jeans are NOT to be worn in any classes and all ballet classes require a leotard and tights.

Pre Ballet​​​​ & Pre Ballet/Tap (age 3-5) Youth Ballet/Tap (age 6-9)

  • Any color leotard and light pink or white tights (no black, tan, or printed tights)

  • Ballet skirt or tutu is optional (may be attached or separate) No shorts

  • Hair is to be worn secured away from face

  • Pink full sole leather ballet shoes NO LACES (Bloch Belle preferred)

  • Black Patent tyette tap shoes (pre or youth ballet/tap)

 

Youth and Beginner Ballet (age 5 and up)

  • Any color leotard

  • Pink or white tights, footed or convertible, tights preferably cover the foot

  • Sheer ballet skirt optional (no tutus or shorts)  

  • Hair is to be worn securely away from face. Ballet bun is preferred.

  • Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes 

  • Bloch Belle or Capezio Hanami ballet shoe preferred, see office for sizing

 

Ballet 2, 3, & 4

 

  • Any color leotard

  • Pink tights, footed or convertible, tights preferably cover the foot

  • No skirts permitted until Ballet 4, absolutely no shorts for any class

  • Hair is to be worn in a ballet bun

  • Capezio Hanami or Performa ballet shoe in canvas (see office for sizing)

 

We are very serious about the ballet dress code because it is important to be respectful to the art. If jeans or unapproved clothing is worn the student will not be permitted to take class. Please be mindful and always wear the appropriate attire.

Tap

  • Comfortable clothing that the dancer can move in. (preferably no jeans)

  • Black lace up oxford style tap shoes for ages 7-18.

Contemporary

  • Any dancewear can be worn. (leggings, fitted shorts, leotards, workout wear, etc) ABSOLUTELY NO JEANS

  • Hair is to be worn securely away from face

  • Tan jazz/contemporary shoes

Jazz & Pom Dance

  • Any dancewear can be worn. (leggings, fitted shorts, workout wear, etc) ABSOLUTELY NO JEANS

  • Hair is to be worn securely away from face

  • Tan jazz/contemporary shoes are to be worn 

Hip-Hop

  • Comfortable clothing that the dancer can move in. ABSOLUTELY NO JEANS

  • Clean non marking hip-hop sneakers

  • Specific hip hop shoes to be ordered shortly after enrollment

  • Please be respectful and do not wear dirty shoes to dance class. Bringing rocks and dirt onto the dance floor causes many dangers and ruins the floor.

Male Ballet Dress Code:

 

Pre, Youth, and Beginner Ballet

 

  • Black shorts or leggings

  • Plain t-shirt, any color

  • Black ballet shoes

 

Ballet 2, 3, & 4

 

  • Black shorts or leggings, not too loose

  • Dance belt

  • Plain t-shirt, any color

  • Black canvas split sole ballet shoes or white ballet shoes with white socks

  • Long hair must be secured back from the face
